Ironman Week 2 Notes

Summary of the Gathering:

Things kicked off with a clip from the Bourne Identity the takeaway was a line Matt Damon said “How can I know all that and not know who I am?” The next step was diving deep into our childhood with a Play-Doh exercise.

Here are some observations about play doh that the group made: It’s malleable/pliable, smells good, taste salty, molds to what we want, pressure and force make the shape, left unattended it dries, hardens and break, it can be restored when you add water (another change agent)

Some Scripture to Go Deeper

James 4:13 - Our life is a “like a vapor” but it’s important.

Reflection From Last Week's Assignment: What’s coming out of your pipe? How do people experience you? One of the hardest things for us to change is our pride. The Play-Doh is like our Heart We all are becoming a certain type of person where we are constantly being molded, and are not a finished project. In the end we have to look at the voices/forces that shape our heart

We are in the process of a metamorphosis – What’s the DNA God has given us and how are we allowing Him to form us? We see this in John 4 and the story of the Samaritan woman.

Read John 4 – Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well

The woman comes from a life where she is judged, her heart is shaped to believe that she is not wanted. Jesus offers her “living water” to restore everything that has been broken and malformed but to do that He needed her to present the real her. (water was a sign of purification). The woman went from an old life to a new with one encounter with Christ.

What’s shaping your heart? What’s flowing out of it?
