Ironman Week 6 Notes

Opening Thought: What makes facing the truth so hard at times?

Video Clip: A Few Good Men “I want the truth!” “You can’t handle the truth!”

What makes facing the truth so hard at times? Accountability, Being Wrong, Facing Change, Feelings, Embarrassment, Fear, Denial, Rejection…Why do we feel these things?...Who told us failing was a bad thing?...Again what makes facing the truth so hard?

We Defined Truth As – When you turn on the light in your life, what you see is what you get, it exposes something.

This Week: What are some of the “external voices” that seem to impact you the most and any ideas you may have as to why that is so? Categories of voices – Culture (Media), Relationship and Experiences

Words From Scripture to Describe the Heart:

Treasure

All In

Inner self/Soul

Hope

Hardened

Deceitful

Watch over

Wellspring of life

Prideful

Wicked

Broken

Heart of Flesh

We will move towards that what you believe most about yourself. What is it that you really think about yourself and why?

Goals of being a “Christian” – No flaws…but is this realistic? The disciples didn’t go out thinking that they had to be flawless. God not only loves you but He is really for you. We are only as healthy as the secrets that we keep. Who can handle the real me?

John 3:19-21 “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness….”

God never abandons us.

Read Luke 5:1-11 – Jesus shines a spotlight on Peter’s heart and says, “Do not be afraid.” Even though Peter doubts the possibility to catch fish, feels unworthy of Christ, Jesus loves him and asks him to follow him.

Final Thought: God knows us as we really are and He love us.
