Ironman Week 10 Notes

Video ClipFor the Love of the Game (Kevin Costner realizes he’s pitching a perfect game and that he’s got his team around him)

Jesus wasn’t against being great, but if you want to be great you serve. Together we can serve one another. We don’t travel well alone.

Thank you – It means someone else has been thinking about your life enough to bless you.

Luke 17 – Jesus heals the 10 lepers. Only one of the 10 come back to thank Jesus…and he was a Samaritan.

What do you have to thank God for today?

Two things to do each day:

1. Thank God for what he’s given you.

2. Stay away from sexual immorality.

Review of Some of the Big Ideas:

  • Jesus envisioned His followers living a different type of life.
  • Galatians 4:19 – We are a part of a bigger story.
  • James 4:13 – Our life is a vapor. Our lives are significant but short.
  • We are meant to be men that grow up and bury the sins that slave us. Instead of making excuses we can lean in and take ownership of the responsibilities God has given us. Most of our limitations are in our mind.
  • We are all being formed (it’s not optional) and the question is, “What are we being formed into?” Our lives are like a pipe there are things that flow into us and what comes out of the pipe we have a say in it. People who deny that they have control over what comes from the pipe are not taking ownership for their lives.
  • Voices and experiences shape our heart but we need to monitor what flows from the heart. What the heart listens to and loves the most flows from the heart. If we can guard the heart we can impact what flows out of it.
  • Our heart is the core, the CEO, the interior, the place of convergence for all of our actions and words.
  • Then our heart is attacked and we questioned whether or not we are worthy enough for God.
  • Luke 5 – Flaws don’t keep Jesus away. He tells Peter that he is great enough to be a Fisher of Men.
  • The level to which we submit to truth is freedom, when we believe the lies we enter into bondage. Roman 6 – Jesus Christ did not die so we would carry around a dead dog, He died so that we could be free.
  • John 10:10 – A thief came to kill, steal and destroy, but Christ came to bring us life and help us live it to the fullest.

If we make character deposits over life it builds up some great spiritual habits. We are naturally self aware but we need to be more aware of Christ in our lives. As Iron Men for Christ we can encourage one another but we cannot live one another’s lives. How are you moving forward?
