Session 2: Ironman Week 4 Notes

Review:

Romans 11:33-36

33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[a] knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?"[b]
35"Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?"[c]
36For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

What were your feelings when someone betrayed your trust?

No relationship exists well with out a high level of trust. That’s why it’s so hard to repair when trust is broken. Is the God you worship truly the God you trust?

Video: Behind the Music SNL “More Cowbell” – will you trust the producer?

Adam and Eve Genesis 3:1-10 and Abraham and Isaac Genesis 22:1-14

What issues are ultimately at stake in both of these instances?

Trust

Obedience

Consequence

Temptation

Fear

How do you see the dynamics of obedience and trust impacting one another here and in our lives? What seems to be an area in your life that seems to be or that you imagine would be the hardest for you to “trust God” with and why is that so? What’s at the core of this struggle?

Areas That Can Be Difficult For Us To Trust God:

Kids

Finances

Relationships

Marriage

Job

Addictions

Why is it difficult to trust God? Control…we live one life that can be a double life.

When we don’t trust God we run away to trust lesser gods.

The whole basis of our relationship with God boils down to love and worship. God loves us so much that He gave us His only Son, so that we could have salvation. God has provided for us and promised to love us, we just need to trust Him…not fear Him. We focus on some of the small things and neglect the greatness of what God does and provides for us.
